Subject : Asbestos in the City of Grigno country and surrounding areas.

Dear Mr. Mayor,
as president of the Observatory Grigno-ness, I would like to highlight the very serious condition in which the village Grigno country and its surrounding areas.

Inside the village we have a very high concentration of asbestos cement roofing (2000 square meters), with an average age of 40-50 years, an area of \u200b\u200bjust over half square kilometers, spread over 14 sites.

With regard to the above cited Dott.Rigo, general practitioner, carrying on his activities on our territory, sent two letters to the previous City Council on 25/05/2009 and on 06/10/2009 (here attached) in which he denounced the situation and concern for public health of citizens.

Dr. Staff requested that the City Administration i ran a mapping of the asbestos roofing and a check for wear, taking steps to solve this problem.

The action taken by the local authority was to see, only the sites given by dr. Rigo, through a committee of the APA of Trent, without any technical tool. Subsequently, the Mayor has informed the owners of buildings more degraded, that they "should" remediation within 36 months, without any imposition. The mayor has done only what the law provides in these cases and nothing more.

Grigno Tezze The Centre has taken this issue very seriously, doing a remarkable job of mapping most of the sites. He entered the post on my site and the association from which it derived an article published in the newspaper of the South 03/12/2010 and organizing an information evening on the theme, with the presence of Dr Zambrano, pulmonologist 's Hospital of Feltre.

  • Grigno satellite map with 14 sites listed above plus the points 12 and 16.

  • satellite map of Tezze Grigno, two sites near the school and church

  • satellite map locations Serafini company Ittica Resenzola
  • satellite map locations Selva company Ittica Resenzola

satellite map of the industrial area Grigno. Coverage # 1 "ex-Omga" is currently in remediation, and over No. 2 is half drained.

Our association is strong and expected a more concrete by the previous Administration.

We made a map that is fair and accurate coverage of asbestos, which is taken to the actual state of decay and estimate the amount of air dispersed fibers, according to the methodology sampling provided by the Ministerial Decree 6 September 1994: Regulations and technical methods of application of Article. 6, paragraph 3, and art. 12, paragraph 2 of Law March 27, 1992, n.257, on the cessation of the use of asbestos.

any questions of regulatory Asbestos refers to the site of the Ministry of Health "at:

To assess the amount of airborne fibers must make use of:
  • Preliminary visual assessment of the general conditions of friable asbestos-containing products
  • Measuring the concentration of airborne fibers by suitable tools such as spectrophotometer (Perkin Elmer Paragon 500), capable of detecting the rate of release (IR), positioning it for different times of day in different parts of the environment
  • Survey of color photographic materials and the entire location
  • Withdraw samples with varying levels of crispness or firmness
  • Repair point where the sampling is done with sealants or encapsulants
  • Compilation of the technical drawing containing all the information relevant to the exact evaluation.
During sampling spettrofonometrico or prominence, it is essential to wear all the safety devices required for removal: P3 type mask, gloves cuff closed, disposable Tyvek suit) and equipment - Plant (showers, changing room).
Once obtained these results, we ask that the Administration, with the help of the Province, undertake to prepare a plan for remediation of asbestos in the roofs, taking on part of the economic costs for re-roofing.
Finally, I just want to remind you that anyone who becomes ill with lung cancer after exposure to asbestos fibers (just breathe even one fibril to the disease) has a life expectancy about 7 months, the new administration should take prompt and effective action to safeguard the health of its citizens!
Thanking you Yours faithfully.
